Reflection Questions to be answered:
A. What were the results of your service project: I created a safer and happier dog park, for owners and their dogs to feel safe. This project also created safer streets in Canyon Lake, as people can use these yellow ribbons on their leashes while walking dogs within the community. B. Did you accomplish your goal? How do you know? I think I accomplished my goal because I helped bring community awareness about dog safety and how dogs might be feeling inside. I know this because I interviewed people at the dog park, and they made comments about how they did not know this information before I posted the informational flyer. C. Do you think you accomplishing your goal is the only way that a project can be considered successful? Why or why not? Even if you don't succeed or accomplish your goal you still help because it will inspire people to do good things and love one another. D. How would you describe the impact your project has had on your community? I think if they word gets out into the community, people will be aware of how dogs might be feeling inside, and to be careful. I think by seeing the yellow ribbon, this will give a visual cue to others and create safer dog areas. People might be inspired to watch their dogs behavior more closely and this will make dogs feel safer. E. What feedback did you get from the people you served? How did they feel about the results of your project? The elders at the dog park liked my idea and they think it will really help for shy dogs at the park. They also thought it was a great idea for people who walk their dogs on the street. Reflection Letter: Dear Canyon Lake Community, My teacher, Mrs. Mondragon, recently gave our class the opportunity to provide a service project. I decided to take this opportunity because I wanted to help the community. There was a few struggles here and there, but I got through it. While I was creating the Bark Park Yellow Ribbon program, I talked to the POA manager at Canyon Lake, specifically for the dog park area. I also spoke with the Dog Park local managers and people who were at the dog park watching their dogs. I put the yellow ribbons up and felt accomplished for a small thing. It may be small but it's a good start for now. I also got such a joyous feeling helping others. I am so happy when other people are happy. Owners can get to know each other and not have to worry about their dogs. The yellow ribbon program will reduce dog fighting and owners can be happy, peaceful. It really does make me happy when I help and I want to be more like Martin Luther King Jr. and make a loving community. I am looking forward to another service project.
