Reflection Questions to be answered:
A. What were the results of your service project: I created a safer and happier dog park, for owners and their dogs to feel safe. This project also created safer streets in Canyon Lake, as people can use these yellow ribbons on their leashes while walking dogs within the community. B. Did you accomplish your goal? How do you know? I think I accomplished my goal because I helped bring community awareness about dog safety and how dogs might be feeling inside. I know this because I interviewed people at the dog park, and they made comments about how they did not know this information before I posted the informational flyer. C. Do you think you accomplishing your goal is the only way that a project can be considered successful? Why or why not? Even if you don't succeed or accomplish your goal you still help because it will inspire people to do good things and love one another. D. How would you describe the impact your project has had on your community? I think if they word gets out into the community, people will be aware of how dogs might be feeling inside, and to be careful. I think by seeing the yellow ribbon, this will give a visual cue to others and create safer dog areas. People might be inspired to watch their dogs behavior more closely and this will make dogs feel safer. E. What feedback did you get from the people you served? How did they feel about the results of your project? The elders at the dog park liked my idea and they think it will really help for shy dogs at the park. They also thought it was a great idea for people who walk their dogs on the street. Reflection Letter: Dear Canyon Lake Community, My teacher, Mrs. Mondragon, recently gave our class the opportunity to provide a service project. I decided to take this opportunity because I wanted to help the community. There was a few struggles here and there, but I got through it. While I was creating the Bark Park Yellow Ribbon program, I talked to the POA manager at Canyon Lake, specifically for the dog park area. I also spoke with the Dog Park local managers and people who were at the dog park watching their dogs. I put the yellow ribbons up and felt accomplished for a small thing. It may be small but it's a good start for now. I also got such a joyous feeling helping others. I am so happy when other people are happy. Owners can get to know each other and not have to worry about their dogs. The yellow ribbon program will reduce dog fighting and owners can be happy, peaceful. It really does make me happy when I help and I want to be more like Martin Luther King Jr. and make a loving community. I am looking forward to another service project.

Part A: Investigate 1. What will your service project attempt to help: My service project will help dogs and owners get along better and have a better understanding of one another. 2. What can you discover about this issue: a. Interview with member of community: I interviewed the Canyon Lake POA Community Services Director. She said this will help create a better dog park. I also interviewed the President of the Bark Park Committee. She stated that this information will be helpful to dog owners, especially those walking within the community on a leash. b. Research national statistics: It is estimated that there are 70-80million dogs in the USA. There are organizations such as the ASPCA and the National Dog Park Association which helps dogs and dog owners. These groups help create a safe environment for dogs. c. Find and review news articles, fact sheets, or reports to share: http://www.aspca.org/animal-homelessness/shelter-intake-and-surrender/pet-statistics, https://www.avma.org/KB/Resources/Statistics/Pages/Market-research-statistics-US-pet-ownership.aspx; https://www.tpl.org/media-room/dog-parks-lead-growth-us-city-parks#sm.00158mnajsr8fkq105y1wt41kevc8; http://www.canyonlakepoa.com/dog-park-project Part B: Plan What is the goal of your service project: My goal is to assist dogs and owners to get along better and have a better understanding of one another. Planning & Preparation: What will is take to plan your project: I planned out my project by calling the POA and asking if this idea was needed and she confirmed that they did. I did online research to confirm the project. I will need a poster sized information sheet (completed on MS Publisher), yellow ribbon cut into 18inch lengths and a ziplock bag. Implementing the Service Activity: Where and how will you put your idea into action: I will implement my idea at the Canyon Lake Dog Park. I will first create a poster and laminate it. I will then use a ziptie to tie it to the fence along with a plastic bag with the yellow ribbons inside. Reflection: What do you want your idea to accomplish: I want my idea to create a safer dog park for dogs and owners. My flier will tell dog owners that if a dog has problems such as sickness or anxiety to attach the yellow ribbon to that dogs leash. This will say to others to give these dogs space or stay away from yellow ribbon dogs. Demonstration: How will you tell others what you have done: I will talk with the Bark Park Council and get permission. Everyone will see and I will also present my idea in a POA Board Meeting and I can also write a letter to the Friday Flyer Newspaper describing what I am doing.
writing on clay was very different because it is much harder to write and obtain it also feelas like you have a limet amont of time to write something because it dries over time and is very delecate.I think being a scribe was difficult because there was many things to memorize and they took a long time to write. The scribes recorded things like reciets to keep track of trading and probally stories like the epic of gilgamesh. Some simular jobs are the people who keep track of taxes like the bank and authors.Writing serves a big part in our life. we can write reciets and communicate.we can understand people.we can make stories.without writing we would not have this class or I would not be typing this write now and you would not be reading this.In my opinion writing will not change because we alresdy can understand each other almost perfectly.Im not saying it wont change a little because it constintally is im just saying it wont derastically change.
I have learned many things in the first few months of social studies. I have learned what social studies is and the eight disciplines of social studies. I have also learned how archeologists make inferences and I have learned about early hominids. In the next few weeks I learned how to write an IDEC format and how to answer a prompt question. It was interesting to learn about the migration pattern of the early hominids. Recently we learned about how the Paleolithic times evolved to the Neolithic time and the only thing that separated them was agriculture. I had fun working on my project with my partner. We are currently learning about the four main problems the Mesopotamian's had, how they solved it, and how that lead to city states. It's amazing how much you can learn in just three months.
